Marrakech – Imlil – Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Peak
At 4,167m, Mt Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa. The hike to the summit is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view from the summit makes the hard work worthwhile. With the start of the trek just a couple of hours drive from Marrakech, you can reach the summit and back within 4 days and still have time to explore Morocco’s most captivating city, Marrakech.

The Atlas Mountains, which is the north Africa’s greatest mountain range, holds some of the fascinating and most magnificent regions of Morocco.. These huge mountains offer very impressive mountain biking trails, trekking trails and photography opportunities. These mountains are the highest in the region, with Mount Toubkal stretching to 4.165 meters above sea level. It is divided into three parts: the Middle Atlas (north of Beni Mellal), the Anti-Atlas (south of Marrakech to Tafilalet) and the High Atlas Mountains between Marrakech and Ouarzazate.
All Rahhalah ground handlers and guides are locally employed ensuring more authentic experience for travelers, as well as sensitivity to local customs and cultures.
We run a low impact operation and we leave no traces behind, contributing to the efforts of protection of the local land, its people and culture.
All our local guides and staff are properly employed and adequately equipped. In addition we emphasize on making extensive use of local products and enhance maximum economic benefits to the local communities.
As you all know 1% of our revenue go back to a local cause and Rahhalah directly takes care of that. This is our pay back promise.
Day 01: Arrival Marrakech (D)
Upon arrival at Marrakech airport you will be greeted by a Rahhalah representative, then transfer to your accommodation. You can spend the afternoon resting or exploring Marrakech.

Day 02: Marrakech - Imlil – Toubkal Refuge (B, L, D)
Transfer from Marrakech to the village of Imlil we begin our trek. Heading along the Maizane Valley, we first pass the village of Aremd We then continue east and by crossing the flood plains our route takes us along mule tracks and up into the high rocky cliffs above the valley. Crossing the river we eventually come to the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamharouch, which attracts tourists and pilgrims. From here the trail continues to climb steadily, snaking and zigzagging its way up to the snowline and the Toubkal Refuge.

Day 03: Acclimatization day (B, L, D)
Trek over the high Mountain passes to acclimatize with the altitude before reaching the
summit on next day.

Day 04: Toubkal Refuge – Toubkal Peak (B,L, D)
Early in the morning we make our attempt on the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. The walking is relatively straightforward, but the scree and the altitude will make the going quite difficult in parts. The views along the way make the journey more than worthwhile. When you reach the summit you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking. From here there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. We will retrace our steps when we return down the mountain and head back to the Toubkal Refuge where we will spend the night.

Day 5: Toubkal Refuge – Imlil – Marrakech (B,L, D)
Today we walk back from the Toubkal Refuge passing through small Berber villages and walnut and cherry orchids. After arrival in Imlil we will transfer back to Marrakech.

Day 6: Marrakech – Airport (B)
Transfer to the airport for departure flight.
