Ulaanbaatar- Ulgii- Tavan Bogd Base Camp – Malchin Peak – Base Camp– Ulgii-Ulaanbaatarar
The Altai mountain range is Mongolia’s largest and highest mountain range, and this adventure will have us trekking all the way to the stunning Altai mountain range in the remote western Mongolia. The Mongol Altai range has some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the world so take in the amazing nature and enjoy unique local traditions during this wonderful trekking experience.The best time to visit is from July to September when the snow has melted, temperatures are warmer, and days are longer.

Day 1: Arrival at Ulaanbaatar/ City tour (D)
A Rahhalah guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The city tour of Ulaanbaatar takes you through some of the key sights of this unique city like the Gandan Monastery, home to a 26 meter high gilded statue of the Buddha. We will also visit the infamous Genghis Khan monument on the Sukhbaatar square and the Museum of National History which has a number of fascinating displays of traditional Mongolian clothing and weaponry, as well as exhibits charting the course of Genghis Khan’s empire-building.
Day 02: Ulaanbaatar- Bayan-Olgii Province (B, L, D)
In the morning, check out hotel after breakfast and catch flight to Bayan Olgii, local arrangements, your local guide, driver and cook will pick you up in the afternoon and do half day city sightseeing tour including local museum, black market, and the mosque. Transfer to the local hotel in the town. Dinner at the local hotel.
Overnight: Eagle Nest hotel or similar
Day 03: Tavan Bogd National Park (B, L, D)
In the morning, we drive out of the town toward the Tavan Bogd National Park with ~ 90 km drive with some optional stop for the local nomadic family, enjoy western Mongolia and arrive near to the place that we begin climbing and overnight at tent.
Day 4: Arrival in Tsagaan Gol River Valley (B, L, D)
We’ll reach to Tsagaan Gol Valley (White River valley) in the afternoon about 4 – 5 hr drive. Tsagaan Gol is a place where nomadic families spend summer and mostly Tuvan (ethnic group) nomads live. Here we’ll meet our camel guide and prepare for the next days’ trekking.
Day 5: Arrive in Tavan Bogd National Park’s base camp (B, L, D)
Today we’ll trek for 18 km to the Tavan Bogd base camp, we’ll load luggage to the camels and day backpack is needed carry on you. On the way, Potanin & Alexander glacier will be seen in the distance of 5 – 6 km. The base camp is in 3000 m.
Day 6: Climb to Malchin Peak ( B, L, D)
After having a breakfast, we’ll slowly walking for about an hour and climb to Mt. Malchin (4050 m) which is one the Mongolia and Russian border line. Malchin peak is the lowest of the Five Holy Peaks (Tavan Bogd Peaks) and it takes 6 – 7 hrs to reach to the top. Most part of the path to the top is rock and you have to be careful when you climb or trek to the top.
Day 7: Base camp- Oigor and Tsagaan Gol Valley (B, L, D).
Today, we’ll trek back to our camp in the Tsagaan Gol valley to Olgii this day and meet our driver. In the evening, we’ll drive back to Olgii town and can visit to Tuvan family to experience their lifestyle, overnight tent.
Day 8: Visiting Kazakh Family –Drive back to Ulgii town (B, L, D)
Drive to Bayan-Ulgii, on the way visit to rock drawing and Kazakh family to see hunting Golden Eagles, arrive in Bayan-Ulgii, transfer to the Eagle’s Nest local hotel and take shower and rest. We’ll celebrate our ascent with a Kazakh traditional meal “Besbernak”.
“Besbarmak” means “Five fingers” and the meal is typically/traditionally eaten with hands, this is why it is called as this. Besbarmak is a delicious stewed mutton, horsemeat sausages, vegetables, homemade noodles sprinkled with mutton, horsemeat sausages, vegetables, homemade noodles sprinkled with parsley and onion.
Overnight : Eagle nest Hotel or similar.
Day 9: Olgii –Ulaanbaatar (B, L, D)
In the morning or in the afternoon, we catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar, after 3hr flight, we’ll land at Chinggis Khaan airport and transfer to your hotel, check in and rest at the hotel. Optional shopping for souvenir or cashmere if you wish. Enjoy traditional folklore concert from magical Tumen Ekh ensemble. Farewell dinner
Day 10: Departure (B)
Meet at the hotel and transfer to the airport for departure.
